This is the White River that flows through Indianapolis. All the great photographers talk about the importance of patience, finding a good spot and waiting for the image to come together. I took over 100 pictures the evening I got this one. It is surprising how much the image in the viewfinder changed from one shot to the next. The light changed and the pattern of ripples changed literally from one second to the next. At first I didn't like the dead branch and thought about taking it out but it is the witness of what is going on here. Quite a commentary isn't it if the most constant witness of beauty here is a dead branch. |
