Rescued dogs

Yas is a white German Shepherd male who was fostered by friends of our friend Joyce in Illinois. He has a spotted tongue, which is not all that unusual in these dogs. He is about a year old.

Joyce, my wife Ellie and I were on our way to the Georgia Aquarium. Since Yas was on his way to his permanent home in Tampa, we took him to Atlanta with us to hand off to someone who would keep him a few days until his ride showed up to go to his new home. But that is getting ahead of the story.

Joyce arrived at our place with Yas on a Wednesday afternoon. We were on our way to Atlanta the next day. The word was that Yas was very shy and not inclined to want to spend time with other dogs. But when he came in the door he was met by our dog Prince, also a white German Shepherd about a year old. He and Prince bonded immediately, acting like long lost brothers. They chased each other all over the house the rest of the day. Their yipping said that they were nipping each other but the white coats showed that no blood was spilled so who was going to worry?

Yas discovered a teddy bear squeaker toy of Prince's named Teddy (we're big on original names here) and this was obviously the toy of choice. When he and Prince weren't chasing one another, he was playing with Teddy.

We got to Atlanta and met the woman who would care for him for a few days before he was to be transported to Tampa. She had brought along a Chihuahua that would have to stand on his hind legs to look out of a tea cup. The two dogs sniffed one another and then Yas got into his crate in the back of their car and off they went.

All went well for Yas, he was delivered to his new home in Tampa and reports are that he and his new master are getting along just fine.
