Spring storm in the Ozarks

Near the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. It was in the morning and the light was that odd color signaling a storm.

I wasn't confident of being able to catch a lightning bolt with a camera but I got nine or ten shots of lightning in this session. I'm not that quick off the mark so how did it happen?

I looked up lightning on the Internet and discovered that yes, the individual lightning bolt is a very short term event and almost impossible to catch manually. But what we see is often not just one bolt but several over a period of half a second to a second. As long as we are prepared, that is plenty of time, even if we are fairly slow.

I like the cows in the foreground. They are just going about their business whatever the weather was doing. They weren't there in the shot before this one and they weren't there in the one after. Just moving along.
