Chief Mountain is on the Blackfeet reservation on the eastern border of Glacier National Park in Montana. It was given the English version of the Blackfeet name "Great Chief." Chief Mountain is what is left after an unimaginably long erosion of rock which formed 1600 to 800 million years ago. Everything in the area speaks of timelessness. Looking at this image I find myself planning to go back to Glacier, truly the gem of the national park system. Go if you get a chance. Go even if you have to make the chance. |
