We were on a canal boat going through the locks in Lockport, NY (yes, there are locks in Lockport) and there was this set of stairs next to the canal. This was a genuine snapshot with little thought behind it, there wasn't time. A dry brush treatment in Photoshop gives it a painterly appearance.
