I'm sure you have seen sea gulls following a fishing boat. The trumpeter swan was dredging up water plants and this mallard (as well as several others not in the picture) was circling around wanting to get in on the freebies, just like the sea gulls. The swan had apparently had enough of this and was letting the mallard know that this behavior was not appreciated.
