Domesticated flowers

Cymbidium

There is an annual orchid show in Indianapolis in January that attracts a lot of interest. And since there are times when I want to photograph stuff that is standing still this is a good opportunity.

The Cymbidium Orchid was first mentioned nearly 1800 years ago in the Chin dynasty of China and was one of the first Asian orchids to be brought to England in the 18th century. I wonder what the people who valued it so much then would think of its use today as a corsage for a wedding or perhaps for a teen age girl wearing it to the prom.
